กระจกใสพิเศษ ( Low Iron Glass) เกิดจากขบวนการผลิต โดยการลดสาร Iron Oxide ในวัตถุดิบที่ใช้ในการผลิตกระจก ทำให้ความเขียวในเนื้อกระจก ( greenish tint) ลดลง โดยปกติแล้ว ความเขียวในเนื้อกระจก จะชัดเจนมากขึ้น เมื่อกระจกมีความหนามากขึ้น จะสังเกตุเห็นได้ชัดเจน โดยการมองดูจากด้านสันของกระจก

กระจกเคลือบสี เป็นงานกระจก ที่สามารถแสดงให้เห็นถึงความแตกต่างระหว่าง กระจกใสธรรมดา และ กระจกใสพิเศษ ได้ชัดเจน โดยเฉพาะเฉดสีอ่อนๆ เช่นการเคลือบสีขาวบนกระจกใสธรรมดา เมื่อมองผ่านผิวกระจกไปยังสีที่เคลือบไว้ จะได้เฉดสีขาวอมเขียวเล็กน้อย และความเขียวจะเพิ่มมากขึ้น ถ้ากระจกมีความหนามากขึ้น
ดังนั้น ถ้าต้องการกระจกเคลือบสี ที่ได้สีตามที่ต้องการเมื่อเทียบกับชาร์ทสี ที่เลือกไว้ ควรเลือกใช้กระจกใสพิเศษ แต่ทั้งนี้ กระจกใสพิเศษจะมีราคาสูงกว่า กระจกใสธรรมดา

* Light Transmission – refers to the percentage of external light that passes through the glass, the higher the percentage the more daylight that will pass trough. Results may vary between glass suppliers.
Low Iron Glass
Low Iron Glass is ultra clear and provides a higher degree of transparency than clear float glass. This optimum clarity is achieved by removing most of the iron oxide content used to produce glass.
The clarity of low iron glass compared with clear float glass is clearly visable when the two types of glass are viewed against a coloured background.
